Hakkoryu Jujutsu is under the sole and direct control of the Hakkoryu Soke who controls and directs the dissemination and knowledge of theory, techniques, and mysteries of Hakkoryu Jujutsu.

About Jujutsu
Hakkoryu comes from the Japanese language meaning "The Style of the Eighth Light." In the color spectrum there are seven color bands. It was believed that there was also an eighth very narrow invisible band: the Eighth Light.

These techniques are not very visible, but effective and strong, just like the eighth light.
Founded by Soke Okuyama Ryuho in 1941, the Hombu (headquarters) is located in Omiya, Japan. The three tenets of Hakkoryu Jujutsu are no challenge, no resistance, and no injury. Along with Hakkoryu Jujutsu, Soke Okuyama developed his own form of Shiatsu called, “Hakkoryu Koho Igaku Shiatsu.”
The primary means of instruction in Hakkoryu is through Kata. Each Kata contains numerous Kihon Waza (basic techniques) which must be mastered and thoroughly understood. Contained within the Kihon Waza are Gensoku (principles) which are the actual lessons of the techniques. The introduction of Gensoku through Kihon Waza follows a rational order where subsequent principles build onto previous ones, developing into a cohesive whole. Once a disciple learns these Gensoku, he/she is able to develop their own principle-based actions using combinations or unique applications of Gensoku for a potentially infinite number of circumstances.

$80/month for entire family*
All students must be age 13 or older. All students are equally important to us from the most uncoordinated to the most athletic. The dojo is a family and we learn together. No one needs to be apprehensive about joining because of age or fitness level.
* One fee covers all parents and dependents residing at same address. Dependants must be between the ages of 13-18 years old.
